I’m Ready To Run

Ran 7 miles today with the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge team and now I am more ready than ever to run the marathon in 36 days! 26.2 I am ready to rock you and help Kiera beat cancer!

Kiera will not be able to make the poster party today since she started a new round of chemo and isn’t feeling to well. I will go to the poster party anyway and decorate our poster and send her the picture when it is all finished. She will be on my mind all day. I love her!

Freezing but fabulous

I ran from Natick to Wellesley tonight in the 20 degree freezing cold wind and weather but it was fabulous. I ran with my ipod tonight to get some inspiration and energy from music but unfortunately it died half way through my run.

I found out that ipod’s do not work in the cold weather.

iPod Environmental requirements
- Operating temperature: 0° to 35° C (32° to 95° F)
- Non operating temperature: -20° to 45° C (-4° to 113° F)
- Relative humidity: 5% to 95% noncondensing
- Maximum operating altitude: 3,000 metres (10,000 feet)

Other than that my run was great, and I ran 5 miles in one hour.

And their off…

I am off from Physical Therapy until next Wednesday. I am heading out tonight for a run and Saturday I am going to the group run in Wellesley at the Boston Sports Club. Tomorrow and Friday I am going to the gym and doing the same routine as yesterday.

I will be going to Physical Therapy until the day after the marathon. This will allow me to not have knots in my left leg and to be able to be the best runner I can be for the marathon!

This Past Weekend

I ran this past weekend and it felt great. The weather was amazing. I went to the gym this morning and I did the exercises that my Physical Therapist told me to do and then did the rower for 20 minutes and then the arc trainer for 25 minutes.

I feel great. I am heading back to Physical Therapy tomorrow. Let’s see what is in store next.

Physical Therapy

I got the go ahead to get back to running on the treadmill. This is the best news I have heard over the past couple of weeks. I am still going to PT twice a week to get the knots out of my leg and the PT has been subscribing me more exercises each time I see her to become stronger and have more endurance when I am running.

I am going to run this weekend and head to the gym tomorrow to stretch and see where I go from here with PT.

See Kiera Round 2

Today, I had Physical Therapy from 8:15 to 10:15. I was suppose to meet Kiera at the Jimmy Fund before her appointment at 10:45 but my Physical Therapy appointment ran to long. We will try to meet up on Saturday otherwise I will see her next Saturday at the poster party.

At the party, Kiera and I will decorate a poster that has her picture on it and it will be used as a decoration at the pasta party. I plan on buying crown and princess stickers to decorate the poster with so she will love holding it!

I bought Kiera and her brother some awesome Disney/Pixar presents which I hope they will love when I see them next.

See Kiera

Today, I could not wait to see Kiera at the Jimmy Fund before she got her chemo treatment. Her mom called me and told me that she would not be able to come and meet me since the clinic told her that Kiera’s vital signs were too low for chemo. I will meet them this Thursday at the Jimmy Fund if her vital signs are well again. Keep your fingers crossed.

Physical Therapy

I started physical therapy yesterday. I will be going to physical therapy twice a week. The heel pain was caused from my leg being totally stiff. I need physical therapy to help me get the knots out of my leg. The physical therapist gave me exercises to do at the gym and told me to heat then ice my leg whenever I am on the couch.

The heel pain has gone away totally just I need to do these stretches so I can become a faster runner and then my gait will be better.

At the gym today, I did the arc trainer and the rower with no pain…which is great news. I will get back to running next week!
