Do I make you proud?

Since I started fundraising for the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge two weeks ago today, I have been admiring all of the text messages, comments, phone calls, and donations I have been receiving. Every day I walk into work and at least one faculty member says to me that they are proud of me or that they are glad that I am running for such a great cause. They are making me feel confident that I am doing the right thing. These comments mean the world to me and I am so grateful for this opportunity.

Taylor Hicks the winner of Season five’s American Idol sang a song called “Do I make you proud”. The chorus says:

This is what we dream about
But the only question with me now
Is do I make you proud
Stronger than I’ve ever been now
Never been afraid of standing out
Do I make you proud

These lyrics reflect the way I feel about this opportunity with the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge and how I will make all of my supporters overjoyed with my accomplishments in fundraising and training. Nevertheless, the training will make me stronger than I have ever been to run the distance I am undertaking.

Thank you for all of your support. Your support pushes me to work harder and makes me want to reach my goal: a world without cancer tomorrow.

The fundraising page is live!

Yesterday, I confirmed my registration to be on the Dana-Farber Marathon team.   Ever since yesterday morning, my heart has been racing with excitement! I cannot believe that today is the first day of my fundraising and the donations already have been arriving. I am so thankful for having this exceptional opportunity.

As far as my training goes, in less than two weeks on October 12th I will be running the Hartford Half Marathon. This upcoming weekend I plan on going to a yoga class on Saturday to stretch out for my Sunday run. I cannot wait to run outside during my favorite season – fall. Hopefully, a lot of leaves will be changing on the trees.
